August 7 ArtWalk

Work by various artists to be announced will be on display.

The Wednesday evening class will have large watercolor landscape paintings on display. Eleven students will exhibit these project paintings that took (8) class sessions to complete.

How to find us?

We are located between downtown and Metra on the one way coming into town from the Heights. If you are coming from downtown or the west end, take 4th Avenue N. east staying in the far left lane and turn north on N. 15th St. We are at the top of the block across the street on the corner.

Weekly Night Watercolor Group

This watercolor group meets and paints from 5:45pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays. Call if you would like to join us.

July 2 & 3 Workshops:

Joi O - Portraiture in oil on canvas Thursday 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and Friday 10:00 am to 1:00 pm will address oil glaze landscapes on canvas. Fees Thursday $75 Friday $50. There will be an artist's reception for Joi Thurs July 2nd evening at 6pm and a large assortment of her work will be on display in the front gallery June 17 thru July 3rd.

July 1 Demo

Joi paints an oil glaze landscape - this exhibition was free to the public.

Our future workshops will address an assortment of mediums, methods, and will be outdoors on the new deck when weather permits. Our list of instructors include Joi O, Elliott Eaton, Les Lindell, Rita Fuller, and Lance Johnson.

History

Established in 2006, Q's Art Shop is named after Q's Sport Shop that Quincy Edwards started on 1st Avenue N in downtown Billings in 1938. Aaron Lipsker purchased Q's in the 1950's and B.G. Armstrong purchased the business in 1962. Both new owners kept the Q's name. B.G. Armstrong sold the business to his employess prior to his untimely death in 1964. In 1968, the business was purchased and moved across the street to the west side of N. 29th (where Meadowlark Gallery is today) and became Bair's Army Navy. Then in the 1980's, the business moved to Rimrock Mall and was named Big Bear. In the '90's Big Bear built their stand alone building at their present site on west King Ave.
